Howth Village looks across the village and harbour towards Ireland’s Eye. After visiting several viewpoints, I chose an elevated position that allowed the buildings, boats, sea and island to share the scene. Early summer light separates these layers and gives the coastal setting its clarity. The image was developed through digital preparation and then worked extensively by hand in acrylic and textured media. Within a collection that often approaches landscape closely or abstractly, this painting holds onto the recognisable geography and life of a particular place.
