This larger Winter Blanket Bog painting returns to an exceptional winter visit when fog settled over frozen grasses and absorbed the usual sounds and distances of the landscape. Tangled vegetation anchors the foreground, while muted earth tones and softened marks draw the eye towards a barely discernible horizon. The wider format lets the stillness unfold around the viewer. Its smaller companion keeps closer to the grasses and textures; together they show how a change of scale alters the experience of the same place.
