Wet Winter Bog Clara 12080 responds to the saturated winter surface of Clara Bog in County Offaly. Grasses, standing water and low growth are suggested in sweeping lines and dense passages of mauve, green and blue, then allowed to break apart. The painting moves between a remembered place and an almost abstract network of marks. Weather shapes every part of this scene, from flattened vegetation to shifting reflections. Its smaller companion, Clara 6750, moves closer to the fragile structures within the bog.
