Barren Land – Fevered is the more compressed and intense of two related landscapes. Ochre, gold and pale green spread across a turbulent sky, leaving a narrow band of textured ground below. The warmth of the light is striking, yet the title gives it an uneasy charge. Like Barren Land – Disturbed Sky, this painting responds to a sense that familiar weather and landscapes are changing.
