Late Autumn Light grew from a November 2020 walk around Ushers Lake in Swords. The low sun briefly lit the remaining leaves and the stream below, while softer light dissolved the woodland beyond. I have walked this route many times, but rarely seen that combination of warmth and stillness again. In this painting, the eye settles near the water, where autumn colour meets dark reflection. It is one of three works from the same walk, each following a different movement of light through the trees.
