Summer Bog brings the viewer close to the surface life of a County Offaly raised bog. Grasses, mosses and low growth gather around a yellow green passage of light, then loosen into interwoven marks and colour. The painting is full of growth, but its density also makes the ground difficult to read at once. Placed beside the Wet Winter Bog Clara works, it offers a different season and energy: a living landscape observed closely and allowed to move towards abstraction.
